On three pillars the world stands: on Torah, Worship and Kind Deeds. (Pirkei Avot 1:2)

At Westminster Synagogue, we recognise that on-going Jewish education is an essential building block for leading a full Jewish life and we have designed education programmes for children, young people and adults.  Our aims are to:

  • teach Jewish skills to enable full participation in Jewish life at home, in the synagogue, in the wider world
  • foster students’ love for themselves as Jews and love of the Jewish people, expressed through being an active part of our Jewish community
  • build a personal understanding of what it means to be a progressive Jew in today’s world and reinforce values of tolerance and Jewish pluralism.

or shabbat is our weekly lifetime education programme. We offer classes for children and adults on Shabbat morning that include Jewish studies, as well as both prayer book and modern Hebrew.

Bnei Mitzvah programme is our concentrated, innovative two-year programme to prepare Jewish children to fully take on their responsibilities as Jewish adults. On graduation this is followed by a Post Bnei Mitzvah programme for young teens.

We also offer a multi-faceted programme to support potential converts in learning about Judaism and preparing to take their place in the Jewish community.

In addition to adult classes on shabbat, we have adult learning sessions during the week. For a calendar of educational events, <click here>
