Or Chadash

Our conversion course, or chadash meaning new light, meets weekly on Wednesday evenings for Hebrew and Jewish studies learning.  Our Jewish Studies course is taught by both of our rabbis and covers Jewish lifecycle, the yearly festival cycle, Jewish history, Prayer book Hebrew, and of course, a familiarising and appreciation of our ancient and modern texts.
It is a dynamic and questioning group and welcoming to new recruits. We also encourage members of the class to attend the Shabbat morning Adult Education classes, wher they will learn more, and meet other members of the synagogue. The classes are held before the shabbat morning service and we work hard at explaining and demystifying the prayers so that each student is able to participate and enjoy the services.
We ask our students to attend shabbat and festival services during the course of the year. Jewish partners are welcomed at all our classes.  Students at the end of their class will go through the Liberal Rabbinic Board to become Jewish.
For more information, please contact our rabbis through the synagogue office or email rabbi@westminstersynagogue.org.
