Our Saturday morning or shabbat learning programme is committed to a dynamic experience of Judaism. We explore the meaning and value of Jewish learning, practice and history to individual lives. Our classes bring personal commitment and a sense of community to study.
We take a “whole-school” approach when we can. We believe strongly in a lively and experiential Jewish teaching that engages all the senses. Weekly we make Kiddush as a learning community, and have other “whole school” activities throughout the year.
On any week, all children from ages 3 to 11 cover the same major topic, using approaches that are suitable for their age and understanding. On family mornings, parents learn with their children. In addition, we provide prayer book Hebrew teaching to all our children to familiarise them with all aspects of Jewish services.
For more information on or shabbat, please contact Rabbi Rebecca Qassim Birk by telephone at the synagogue office or rebecca@westminstersynagogue.org.
For adult learning we offer Access to Judaism, both modern and prayer book Hebrew, and Jewish life skill classes.
