Welcome to GCSE 2019-2020!

All children of members of the community are eligible for our learning programmes. If you wish to register for our other children's learning  programmes, please click here for Or Shabbathere for B'nei Mitzvah or here for Kabbalat TorahIf you are not a member, please click here to contact the Rabbi for an appointment, or if you would like more membership details, please click here.

The GCSE is in Religious Education featuring Judaism. The class would also study another religion, Christianity, as the course now has an interfaith emphasis. The last 4 students to have taken the course with us gained top (A*) grades, and absolutely raved about the programme.

This is a great way to deepen knowledge of Judaism as well as learning about another faith. It can also be a very good social opportunity in terms of strengthening ties with classmates. There is also the bonus of taking an extra GCSE and, for those starting in year 9, of having GCSE exam experience in year 10. That can be very valuable ahead of taking the bulk of exams in year 11.

This is a two year course of 30 classes per year and we need a minimum of 4 students to run the class.

Classes would be weekly , after school for 120 minutes with a specialist teacher, Janet Berenson on Wednesdays from 5.00-7.00pm. The first class will be held on Wednesday, 11th September. Sometimes classes will be held at the Synagogue, sometimes classes will be held via Skype.

Students would be welcome to join the sessions to take the learning opportunity, but not to take the exams, as some students have done in the past.

The registration and payment process must be completed in one go so please ensure you have all information you will need before you start. All information given will be treated as confidential. If you have any changes during the year, please call the Synagogue office to advise.

If you have any questions or problems with the online process,  Nivi will be happy to assist you - just click here.

We really appreciate any information that would help us teach and look after your child whilst they are in our care.

At Westminster Synagogue we would never wish for a member to be excluded from any activity for financial reasons. Please contact Yael Roberts or Rabbi Benji Stanley in strictest confidence if you have concerns about payment.
