Thursday, 19 June, 2025 • 23 Sivan 5785
6:00 PM - 9:00 PMSanctuaryWe know the war is affecting many of our lives as we fear for family and friends. Ahead of our Symposium, at 6:00pm, Rabbi Benji will be leading our community in some moments of prayer, to come together and be with one another. Though there’s no charge for this, do book in below.
Join us for the newest installment of our WS Symposium Series as we invite a stellar panel to Kent House as they ask "What's God got to do with it? - Searching for Hope after October 7th"
Where can we look for hope? Professor Melissa Raphael, who is what might be considered a rare thing, a Jewish theologian will be sharing how she finds hope in God and theology. Raymond Simonson, who, as CEO of JW3, has had the task of galvanising our diverse community through cultural programming, will share where he has found hope and challenge in Jewish peoplehood. R Benji will share about how this community’s diversity of spiritual and cultural approaches to Judaism could give us all hope. You can all ask questions and member Amanda Rubin Lewis will chair, helping us focus on where we look for hope.
Moderator: Amanda Rubin, Member and documentary film Director, her work across cultural history, music, the arts, and science has been shown on BBC, Channel 4, The History Channel and more.
Panellist: Professor Emerita Melissa Raphael, leading scholar of Jewish theology and Holocaust thought; author of The Female Face of God in Auschwitz; teaches at Leo Baeck College and is Professor Emerita at Gloucestershire.
Panellist: Raymond Simonson, Chief Executive Officer of JW3 and an experienced leader with a long history in the Jewish community, informal education and culture sector.
Panellist: Rabbi Benji Stanley, Senior Rabbi of Westminster Synagogue; passionate about Jewish learning, community, and social justice; graduate of Oxford and Leo Baeck; former Rabbi at West London Synagogue.
We'll be starting at 7:00pm with a break in the middle to enjoy some food and gather any questions you’d like to add to the discussion. If you wish to join us, please do register below.
