Oy Vey - We're Gay!
Our Oy Vey, We're Gay! group for LGBTQ+ Members and Allies are excited to host three opportunities for members to mark Pride this year. As a community that prides itself on being warm and welcoming, we hope that both queer members and allies are able to join us for one or all of our events:
Pride Shabbat Dinner on Friday 20th June
Theatre 'Outing' to see Ministry of Lesbian Affairs (directed by Oy Vey Chair, Hannah Hauer-King) on Thursday 26th June
Post-event drinks after Kent House Series: Rev Richard Coles on Thursday 3rd July
In 2021, we wanted to not just accept our queer members but truly celebrate them, as such we were proud to introduce "Oy Vey - We're Gay" to our Westminster Synagogue Community.
We have since held theatre trips, Pride dinners/Kiddushim and festival celebrations, and are excited to turn up the notch in the coming year by introducing, alongside more events, a new WhatsApp group specifically created for our LGBTQ+ members and allies.
This vibrant space aims to provide a platform for connection, camaraderie, and celebration. Whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or are a proud ally, we invite you to join us in this welcoming community where you can stay updated on upcoming events, share London gatherings that you think would be of interest, and connect with fellow members.
To join the "Oy Vey - We're Gay" WhatsApp group, simply click on this link to request access! Please note this group is only for WS Members, and we ask you to not invite any non-members to the group – but know they are more than welcome to join for our events.
Additionally, we're thrilled to announce our upcoming Pride Shabbat Dinner, scheduled for 28th June – and you can book your place now! Please note that whilst the dinner is ticketed, we’d never turn members away for financial reasons, so please do get in touch if you have any concerns.
We're also delighted to hold a Rainbow Challah Bake on Friday, 21st June - find out more information here!
Thank you for your ongoing support and participation in making Westminster Synagogue a welcoming and inclusive community for all.
