Do you need assistance, or would you be able to help?

The Westminster Synagogue chesed team is committed to helping and caring for Synagogue members. We pride ourselves on our communal approach to chesed within our community. The chesed team is made up of experienced social care staff, Rabbis and lay leaders.

As a community we will continue to do everything we can, to be there for our members, whatever their needs and particularly for the elderly, lonely or vulnerable.

We remain in contact, by phone or Zoom, with our elder members to offer support, emotional and physical, and to alleviate any loneliness during this time. If you are shielding and require collection and drop-off of medicines or groceries, please let us know - we are more than happy to help.

We are able to provide practical, pastoral, emotional and spiritual support, to all our members, whatever your age; or if you would simply like to talk to somebody, please call 020 7584 3953, or email Rabbi Benji or Danine Irwin, our Community Welfare manager.  If you are looking for best point of contact for an external Jewish organisation, please see our resource directory here.

We are eternally grateful to our volunteers who continue to support the work of our chesed team. If you would like to help, in any way, such as telephone befriending, dropping off groceries or medication, helping to run support and activity groups (when restrictions permit), we’d love to hear from you; just a few hours of your time can really help to make a positive difference to other people’s lives.

Please contact Danine Irwin, community chesed manager for more information on how you can get involved.
