Our traditions
“There is something genuinely special about Westminster Synagogue and its values that I have yet to see represented elsewhere in modern Jewish communities in Britain."
The Synagogue offers a unique combination of the traditional and the progressive. It is a warm and welcoming community, with enlightened views and an open approach to Judaism. It is completely independent of the Reform, Liberal and Masorti movements although with close ties to the life of Anglo-Jewry through its membership of the Board of Deputies and through its lay and rabbinical links to other communities in the other movements in the UK. Through its international membership the community keeps in touch with many communities in Europe, North and South America, and Israel and our Rabbi maintains contacts with his progressive colleagues in many parts of the world.
One third of our membership comprises families with children, and the community is very proud of its learning programmes for adults, teenagers and children and for those who wish to become Jewish by choice.
Westminster Synagogue is wholly dedicated to the well-being of its members and to their extended families. We would be delighted to meet with you to give you more information on how to join our community. Please call the Synagogue office on 020 7584 3953 to make an appointment or simply email Guy Ronen, PA to the Rabbinic Team..
