The next course of Training Thursdays will be held on 29th June, 6th July, and 13th July from 6:30-8pm via Zoom and will have a focus on Learning to Leyn (Chant from Torah). 

If you want to build your confidence in chanting from Torah, or just want to learn the melodies of the te'amim (chanting marks), join us for this special Training Thursdays. You should be able to read Hebrew even if basically or slowly, but if you are worried about this please just email Yael. We will have the joy of being taught by David Djemal, a skilled Hebrew teacher as well as wonderful singer! These classes will help you follow and participate in our Torah service, or take next steps in your reading of Torah. We are delighted to be supporting and inviting parents and children of B'nei Mitzvah age to learn leyning together, as well as adults of all ages. Do let us know if you’re coming by signing up below.

David Djemal is a Shaliach Tzibbur and a Musical Theatre actor based in London. Originally from Jerusalem, David moved to London in 2014 to study at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, where he graduated with distinction. Following his studies, David proceeded to perform throughout the UK, Israel, and New York, as well as teaching Hebrew privately as well as for the Spiro Institute. Since 2020, David has been teaching Hebrew, Bar Mitzvah trope, and Jewish Studies for a number of London synagogues as well as privately. In addition to his acting and teaching work, David is co-cantorial lead at New London Synagogue in St John’s Wood.
