Recently joined as caretaker and duty manager at the start of 2024, Foyez is delighted to ensure that our space at Westminster Synagogue remains inviting for all who enter, handling day-to-day operations with meticulous care and attention to detail. Transitioning from the dynamic realm of TV and film, where he honed his skills in organization and problem-solving, to the serene halls of this historic building has been a fulfilling journey. What he particularly enjoys about his role here is the opportunity to engage with the rich history and architecture of the synagogue, cherishing each detail that contributes to its timeless beauty. Whether he is meticulously arranging seating for an event or ensuring the lighting accentuates the synagogue's grandeur, he finds immense satisfaction in preserving and showcasing its heritage. Moreover, his passion for writing and storytelling finds a new avenue of expression within these sacred walls. Every corner of the synagogue whispers stories of generations past, and he relishes the chance to weave these narratives into the fabric of our community. Whether it's through helping to craft engaging newsletters or curating thought-provoking exhibits that celebrate our collective journey, storytelling remains at the heart of his ambition.

In his spare time, Foyez immerses himself in creative pursuits such as writing, photography, and art, seeking inspiration from the beauty that surrounds him.  As someone of Bengali heritage, Foyez brings a unique perspective to our synagogue, embracing diversity and fostering inclusivity in all aspects of his work. His dedication to serving the Jewish community stems from a deep-seated desire to create a sense of belonging for all who walk through our doors. Having overcome personal challenges, including homelessness and estrangement due to his sexuality during lockdown, finding his footing within the embrace of this community has been a beacon of hope and resilience. Religion and faith have always provided him with a steadfast guide, and he is grateful to contribute to the warmth and hospitality that define Westminster Synagogue.
