Community Chanukah Celebrations

Sunday, 14 December, 2025 24 Kislev 5786

2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Chanukah is a great time to come together as a community, to have fun, eat lots of chocolate and to celebrate our judaism. On Sunday 14th December we will have tons going on for you to enjoy before we come together to light the first candle.

Join us for:

2:00pm - Activities for all ages!

Activities everywhere
you look!

(2:00-4:00pm)

There will be plenty of things to do around the building! Whether you love the dreidel game, crafts or anything food related - there will be something for everyone!

Chanukah Tallit-making workshop
(Starts at 2:00pm)

Join Rabbi Kamila for a creative Chanukah experience. Together we will explore the traditions and laws of the tallit, the prayer shawl: when it is worn, why it matters, and who can wear one, and then roll up our sleeves to begin crafting our own.

Chanukah Tallit-making workshop
(full information)

Join Rabbi Kamila for a creative Chanukah experience. Together we will explore the traditions and laws of the tallit, the prayer shawl: when it is worn, why it matters, and who can wear one, and then roll up our sleeves to begin crafting our own.

Whether you finish your tallit on the day or simply make a start, you’ll leave with inspiration, knowledge, and a project that is uniquely yours.

To bring: a favourite or thrifted shawl, or a large enough piece of fabric, to transform into your tallit. It should be square or rectangular, and there is no limit to patterns or colours.

As well as creating your own Tallit,  there will be a chance to decorate a square for our Community Tallit. It's been a project going on for a a few years, and Chanukah is a great time to re-dedicate some time to it.

Please note: To make sure that we have enough material for everyone, please make sure you sign up for this below

Act of Kindness

At Chanukah we celebrate the Miracle of the Oil lasting for 8 days in the Temple, a lot longer than the Maccabees thought. We remember how the Maccabees were trapped in the Temple for days, and this year more than ever we can recognise the feeling of being trapped inside and isolated from others, even though the threat is of a different nature.

We've been contacted by Food Bank Aidcharity that supports 33 food banks in London by providing essential food, toiletries and households for their 20,000 clients, including 5,000 children. By providing exactly what's needed, when it's needed, Food Bank Aid helps families in poverty receive the ingredients to make home-cooked meals.

And that includes cooking oil.

Bottles of oil are rarely donated to food banks and they don't become surplus from the food industry, which is why it is called 'Liquid Gold' by food bank managers. That's where Food Bank Aid comes in.

Help celebrate the Miracle of Oil this Chanukah by donating a virtual bottle of cooking oil to those in need here.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
