Volunteering for HHDs

Volunteering Opportunities

The High Holy Days are a great way to get involved outside of services - read on for more information on being a Meet and Greeter or helping in the Kitchen!

The role of a Meet and Greeter is simple: To be a warm face people connect with when they come into our building and help them find their way

Our aim is for all members and visitors alike to feel welcome and at ease in our building, no matter what their age, nationality or reason for coming to us. It can often be daunting entering a building that you have never been to before (or don’t attend often), so we invite people to volunteer for this role and not to be shy in engaging with all who come through our doors for our High Holy Days.

Meet and Greeters would be allocated a slot and location in the building to welcome members and visitors to the building, answer questions and sometimes escort to relevant locations.

We've been so touched by the amount of members who have already volunteered for this role during our Shabbat services, ensuring the first thing visitors and members see as they enter the building are warm, welcoming faces. It's already having an amazing impact as shown by this comment from a recent visitor:

I appreciate the welcoming ladies for being hospitable to me as it was my first time and didn't know what to expect, and their friendliness made me feel at ease

If you are able to volunteer, please do let us know what time/dates you are free by using the form below, and we'll get in touch to confirm your slot.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to be in touch.

Please let us now which dates you would be available to help as one of our Meet and Greeters around the building. We will be making a rota from this, so do let us know all of your availabilities and we will be in touch to confirm your slot.

Kitchen Assistance

Over the festivals, we may need some extra helpers in the kitchen, whether this is cutting up honeycake on Erev Rosh Hashanah, cutting up apples on Rosh Hashanah, or pitching in for the Breaking of the Fast - all help is appreciated.

If you'd be interested in assisting with any of these, please let us know!
