Israel Events
Below you can find a list of events you may wish to learn more about. We see this page as a communal resource, with areas that may appeal to some members, and others for other members, as such, please note that resources/events shared here do not necessarily represent the views of the community as a whole. This list will continue to be updated and if you want to suggest an event to share with our community, please get in touch.
WS Events
Below are upcoming WS Events, do also join us for Shabbat Services where we pray for the safe release of the hostages.
Thursday 19th June - WS Symposium: "What's God got to do with it? - Searching for Hope after October 7th"
Where can we look for hope? Dr Melissa Raphael, who is what might be considered a rare thing, a Jewish theologian will be sharing how she finds hope in God and theology. Raymond Simonson, who, as CEO of JW3, has had the task of galvanising our diverse community through cultural programming, will share where he has found hope and challenge in Jewish peoplehood. R Benji will share about how this community’s diversity of spiritual and cultural approaches to Judaism could give us all hope. You can all ask questions and member Amanda Rubin Lewis will chair, helping us focus on where we look for hope. Click here to book in.
Wider Community Events
In addition to WS community events, we want to bring your attention to a few other significant gatherings happening in London, which, whilst not affiliated with our community, we wanted to share. This list will continue to be updated and if you want to suggest an event to share with our community, please get in touch:
Board of Deputies Vigils – Tuesdays and Wednesdays when Parliament is in session, 1:00-3:00pm
The Board of Deputies has announced that it will be holding small weekly vigils outside Parliament for the return of the hostages and is calling for members of the Jewish community and allies to join this effort. The Board is looking for those who are willing to volunteer a couple of hours of their time, either on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon, to join these vigils, which began Tuesday 5th December, and will take place until all the hostages are brought home. Those who are interested can sign up here, and they will be contacted with a date, time and specific venue in the Westminster area. The vigils will be staffed by the Board and are being co-ordinated with the police and CST. For more information, click here.
