Virtual Voices: Orit Schreiber
Wednesday, 27 May, 2020 • 4 Sivan 5780
1:00 PM - 1:30 PMZoom 3We are now bringing 'Westminster Voices' online, as we welcome speakers on a variety of topics. These would be opportunities for members of the community or guest speakers to speak for 15 minutes on a topic, followed by a 15 minute Q&A.
On Wednesday 27th May we are excited to welcome member Orit Schreiber, who will be exploring: Removing the Mystique of Buying Art (and how to start collecting contemporary pieces)
Looking at art, meeting artists, buying art does not have to be intimidating at all!
Over the years since I first studied and then worked in contemporary art, barriers have broken down massively and nowadays, conversely and ironically even more so during the socially restricting pandemic, accessing art and bringing art into your life has become much more do-able.
Websites, Online Viewing Rooms including Galleries, Museums, Zoom, Podcasts, IGTV, Instagram, all of these channels are proving to be strongly enabling and motivational ways forward, allowing a much wider audience to be reached, and most significantly taking the elitism out of the enjoyment and owning art.
This will be an introductory talk on aspects of how to find art, learn about the contemporary art scene, actually meet artists, and hopefully take part in their journey, and finally perhaps take a leap in starting to own pieces.
My main focus will be on young and/or emerging artists and mainly around London but with online access, it really does mean that the world is your oyster.
Sorry, Registration has ended.
