Purim Megillah Reading, Spiel and Celebrations
Thursday, 13 March, 2025 • 13 Adar 5785
4:30 PM - 9:00 PMGround and First FloorsWhat is this feeling? It must be that time of the year again, when the YAYs and BOOs will soon erupt at Westminster Synagogue. This year we are travelling to the land of Oz as we once again hear the story of brave Esther, as she defies gravity and becomes the most popular person in Oz.
4:30pm - Children’s Activities
- Stories & Games with beloved Children’s Entertainer Nia - who was here for our Simchat Torah Celebrations
- Arts & Crafts with Reut from PJ Library
- Face painting and glitter (for all ages)
5:45pm - Costume Parade
We can't wait to see you strut your outfit on the red carpet.
6:00pm - Megillah of Many Tongues & Purim Spiel
Our beloved Megillah of Many Tongues is back, as we tell the story of Esther in many different languages, celebrating our diverse community.
Then it's time for our Purim Spiel Troupe to take to the stage as they retell the story in a hilarious way and great songs.
7:00pm - Festive food and drink in Emerald City
After all the excitement, we can all do with a bite to eat.
7:15pm - Full reading of the Megillah
For those who are interested, there will be a full reading of the Megillah in the library.
Mishloach Manot
Esther's friend Dorothy is often seen carrying a basket in Oz, which is very fitting around Purim, when Jewish people around the world take part in Mishloach Manot (sending of portions) - food and drink gifts which are given to friends and family.
This year we are setting up a Community Mishloach Manot exchange at Purim - which will be another reason to shout YAY. You will be given another member's name, and then all you have to do is bring them a tasty gift when you get here for our Purim Celebrations. We'll have an exchange for kids and another for adults, so you can take part at any age!
If you would like to be matched up with another member, tick the option below by Thursday 6th March (and we'll send you a name after that).
Sorry, Registration has ended.
