Preparing our Hearts for Pesach: An afternoon intensive

Saturday, 20 April, 2024 12 Nisan 5784

12:30 PM - 5:30 PMKent House

Join us for an afternoon of study on Shabbat 20 April on the theme of preparing our hearts for Pesach. We might be preparing our homes, but what does it look like to prepare our hearts, clean our minds, and remove the spiritual chametz from amidst us?

Here's the schedule for the afternoon (subject to change):

  • 13:00-14:00: Lunch and Making Sense and Deep Meaning of (the long, and previously confusing bit of) the Seder! with Rabbi Benji There’s a section in our haggadot/ s’darim that stretches for pages and can be confusing. It’s part of the maggid, the telling of the story. We’ll explore what’s going on with this section, consider why this section isn’t just filled with the story of freedom from Exodus, and figure out how to make this section most meaningful this year. You can bring your haggadah or use one of ours.
  • 14:00-14:15: Break
  • 14:15-15:15: Leil Shimurim: A Guarded Night with Rabbi Kamila A look at the meaning underlying the first night of Pesach and the way this special window in time weaves together the past and the future.
  • 15:15-15:30: Break
  • 15:30-16:00: Mincha
  • 16:00-17:00: Spiritual Chametz with Yael Roberts A deep dive into how we remove the chametz from our selves as we prepare for collective liberation.
  • 17:00-17:30: Closing with some final pre-Pesach tea and cake as we reflect on the afternoon and share future plans.

If you would like to join us earlier in the day from 10-11 there is a session especially for parents about how to run a seder. Please email Robert Sandler to join this session. The afternoon intensive is for members of all ages.

This is a paid event, which includes lunch and breaks. However we would never want to exclude anyone due to financial grounds. Please contact Yael, in confidence, if you have any concerns.

In a similar vain, if you are able to add a donation, to help someone else join this programme, you can do so below.
